The Setting
Cowshed Trail Road,
off of Cemetery Road, was once used as a path for moving cows from one
pasture to another. It is a small, tree lined, one lane, dirt road
that is bordered by woods and open fields. It expands into a two lane
dirt road as it connects with Silver Hill Road. The original cowsheds
are still standing.
Cowshed Trail Road
and Silver Hill Road are main connecting roads in the network of
trails identified, maintained and utilized by the nearby
Green Mountain Horse
Association (GMHA). Many of the GMHA competitive trail rides
include these roads as part of their rides.
Cowshed Cabin Farm is nestled in a 5 acre lot, cleared to accommodate
horses. There you can hear the brook at the rear of the property and
watch the sun set from the front porch of the log cabin.
Five minutes from the property is the
Ascutney Mountain
Resort, which has a public fitness center with indoor and outdoor
pool, sauna, whirlpool, racket ball, tennis, machines, aerobic rooms
and massages.
